If approved by the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, a jail grant would permit remodeling of the existing jail and construction of an additional structure for office and communications space.

Cindy Harris was crowned “Snowball Queen” of Brown Mackie College at a winter formal held at Salina Country Club. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Harris of Marion, she is enrolled in a court reporting course.

The Grinch has come to Marion. City Policeman Bob Hoffman reports unknown persons stole a set of floodlights from the nativity scene on the lawn in front of the Presbyterian Church.

Linda Williams, Lady Warrior sophomore guard, played “a fantastic floor game offensively and defensively” Monday night against Chase County, according to Coach Leroy Burton. She hit 47 percent of her shots for 18 points, and had two assists.

K.C. Widler is this week’s subject of staff writer Ruth Meyer’s “Personality Profile.”

The combined Aulne and Valley United Methodist church choirs will present a Christmas cantata entitled, “The Wonder of Christmas” Dec. 17 at Valley church. Sandra Wall-Garrard and Dean Williams direct the combined choirs with Ruth Jo Penner as organ accompanist. Soloists will be Becky Summerville, Margaret Wilson, Linda Ogden, Mark Ottensmeier and Lyle Leppke.
