An item on the editorial page of this issue notes that Hospital District No. 1 of Marion County, Kansas, will celebrate another birthday this week. It was 11 years ago that the district was organized following the announcement by the Sisters Adorers of the Most Precious Blood that they were no longer able to operate the institution economically.

The attorney general of Kansas, Robert T. Stephan, will be the commencement speaker when Marion High School seniors graduate May 22, according to Martin Tice, principal.

Marion High School will present “Oklahoma,” one of the most popular musicals ever performed, May 10 and 11 in Marion Municipal Auditorium. Playing leading roles are Laurie Laubhan as Laurey, Bill Hoch as Curly, Janelle Bowers as Aunt Eller, Donita Makovec as Ado Annie, Chuck Gough as Will, Jay Smith as Jud, and Troy Bridges as Ali Hakim.

Jeffrey Longhofer, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Longhofer of Marion, recently was invited to the national meeting of the Society for Applied Anthropology at Philadelphia, Pa.

An article in last week’s issue incorrectly identified David Mueller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Mueller, as the son of Mr. and Mrs. Werner Mueller.
