Marion has received some good publicity in regard to the upcoming Tiddlywink tournament. Several daily newspapers picked up the story and KAKE radio and television station in Wichita has taken notice — they plan to send a crew to Marion to cover it “live” on Saturday,

The subjects of this week’s “Personality Profile” are Charles and Helen Maggard, who opened the doors of Town and Country Antiques ten days ago. In the first five days of business, pieces have gone from the store to Virginia, Kansas City, Iowa, and New York.

Pat Fox, a journalism senior at Wichita State University, has joined the staff of the Marion County Record for the summer months. A native of Colwich, he has been editor of the Sunflower at WSU for the past semester.

Jim Richmond, golf professional at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wichita, won first place in a long drive contest held Saturday. His long drive was 337 yards. Jim is the son of Kent and Alice Richmond of Marion.

Forty-nine Marion residents will board a chartered bus Sunday for a trip to Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City where they will attend a baseball game between the Royals and Boston. Ed Navrat, a lifetime sports participant and fan, fills part of his spare time in retirement planning these trips.
