This week 100 Flint Hills Girl Scouts are participating in summer day camp at the Marion County Lake. The girls come from Florence, Peabody, Hillsboro, and Marion and will be at the camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the week.

Five Marion High School students will join 245 students from Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and Colorado when the Mid-America Band and Chorus stages five performances in Europe this summer. Debbie Rittgers, Kelly Blackman, Julie Hett, Cindee Miesse and Pat Fruechting have accepted spots in the chorus for the tour.

Approximately $400 was stolen the night of May 23 from a safe inside Ron’s Cleaners and Coin-Operated Laundry. Also stolen was a set of keys to the coin-operated washing machine and dryer money boxes.

Cindy Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Harris of Marion, and Connie Kerbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Kerbs of Tampa, have passed the Oklahoma examination for court reporters. Both are graduates of Brown Mackie College, Salina.

Terry Holt, park ranger at Marion Lake, presented a program on boating safety at the Kiwanis meeting Monday.

John Klenda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Klenda of rural Marion, is serving as a legal intern this summer in the law office of Tim Karstetter at McPherson.
