Most Marion residents readily agree that the city is the “Best Place I’ve Seen.” Chamber of Commerce office aide Loreen Wiens and Bud Hannaford are pictured promoting the sale of half-dollar sized lapel buttons stamped with the city seal. They are available at the chamber office on Main Street for 25 cents.

Jeanne Keazer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Keazer of Marion, received a master’s degree in social work at commencement exercises May 21 at the University of Kansas, Lawrence.

Margaret May is pictured as she instructs a group of merry marionette makers as they put the finishing touches on a group of plaster-and-cloth creatures inside the crafts room at Marion’s Community Arts “The Little House” on South Fourth Street.

Gary Ewert of Marion has been initiated into Pittsburg State University’s Lambda Sigma honorary society for 1979-80.

Stan Utting of Hillsboro, manager of Tampa Cooperative Association, won the county golf championship Sunday at Marion Country Club. Bernie Waner came in second.

Marion USD 408 superintendent John Wiebe presented distinguished public service awards to outgoing board members Reuben K. Zerger, Jon Thole and Ron Kirkpatrick Monday evening at a regular meeting of the board.
