St. Luke Hospital could become the center for a proposed home health care agency that would service Marion County residents. The health agency was discussed July 11 by Ron Cork, hospital administrator, and about 30 members of a newly formed county senior citizens group.

Sidewalks will be the only gray thing on Main Street in Marion this Saturday. That’s when the Marion Chamber of Commerce will present the second annual July Jamboree. Chamber executive secretary Janice Case says she expects all Marion merchants to participate in the festivities by stepping into whimsical costumes and smearing bright-colored makeup over their faces.

Marion High School football coach Leonard White has announced he will not return to lead the Warriors through another season. White, who led the squad to one CVL championship and two second place finishes in his five years, will move to Oxford to assist on his father’s farm.

Aaron Helmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Helmer, celebrated his third birthday July 9 by having family and friends over for cake and ice cream.

Birth announcements this week include Jeffrey Wayne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Melcher of El Dorado, born July 5, and Frederick Ruben, son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Silhan, rural Marion, born July 15.
