Jeff Martin, M.D., a family practition resident at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Wichita, has accepted an invitation from St. Luke Hospital to locate his office in the new hospital clinic nearing completion here.

Ella Winter is pictured as she dishes out one of her last meals as cook at the Marion High School cafeteria. Winter is retiring after 25 years of service in the school lunchroom.

Florence representatives to Boys’ State and Girls’ State are Stan Williams and Alice Hockensmith. The MHS juniors were selected on the basis of citizenship and academic achievement.

At the annual athletic awards banquet Thursday night, basketball coach Marion Ogden gave the “bravest warrior” award, the “most inspirational player” and the “honorary team captain” award to senior Kevin Jirak. Greg Boyle was honored as the senior athlete of the year.

The Rev. Don Viets will become the minister of Eastmoor United Methodist Church on June 5. Viets, who now serves the Furley-Greenwich United Methodist churches, will replace the Rev. Jerry Calvert.

The Aulne Chicken Carriers and Egg Producers Association (ACCEPA) enjoyed a wiener roast Thursday evening in Central Park. Later in the evening, the group enjoyed homemade ice cream and cake honoring Mrs. Jack Williams’ birthday.
