The half-century old concrete bridge over Luta Creek is sagging at her seams and broken down in spots, but the Kansas Department of Transportation has not approved a contract to replace it with a sturdy fill, which would improve the appearance of Central Park and the business district.
Will Helmer will be presented an award for 15 years service with Greeley Gas Company’s Herington Division at the annual employee awards dinner June 24. Also recognized will be Rosalie Schmidtberger for eight years of service and Jo Ann Ottensmeier for three years.

Nick Onofrio of Wichita won the third annual invitational golf tournament at Marion Country Club June 13. Onofrio finished with a 36-hole score of 138, two strokes ahead of second-place finisher Rocky Wait, also of Wichita. Another Wichitan, Mitch Merrill, finished with a 141, good for third place in the championship flight standings.
