Ern Hett’s Copper Shed south of Marion was buzzing Wednesday as about 150 members of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia were bused from their convention in Wichita to see Hett’s creations. As part of the tour of Marion County, the Germans also visited the Adobe House Museum in Hillsboro.

Laurel Jean Layman and Jay Scott Miesse were married July 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan.

Jean-Phillippe Dangles, an 18-year-old exchange student from Clamart, France, is spending a month with Mr. and Mrs. Kent Richmond at Marion and finding the American lifestyle interesting. He is part of a group of 250 teen-agers who are visiting the Kansas-Nebraska area to become better acquainted with American culture and the English language.

Auto daredevils will be featured Monday at the Marion County Fair in Hillsboro. They will follow the annual parade and a balloon lift.

Pony rides were an attraction on Main Street in Marion Saturday when Happy Hustlers 4-H Club members Michele and Sheri Bina offered rides as a fund-raising project for the club.
