The old concrete bridge across Luta Creek on Main Street is being replaced and a stronger bridge and a straighter road are replacing the s-turn low limit bridge on South Third over the Cottonwood River. This week announcement was made that plans are underway to replace the narrow bridge across the Cottonwood at the west edge of Marion.

Parent-teacher conferences were held this week. High school instructor Pauline Ferrell is pictured conferring with Marge and George Endres about the progress of their daughter, Lori.

Marion’s pride and joy, the traditional Rube Band, has been invited to play in the Veterans’ Day parade at Emporia. No decision has been made as to whether or not the band will participate.

Greg Jirak and Teresa Cott were named football homecoming king and queen at ceremonies conducted before the Centre-Sedgwick game Friday evening.
