Amy Gayle and Mickelly Soyez will be graduating Saturday as valedictorians, with grade point averages of 4.0. Jayden May, at 3.89, will be salutatorian.

Amy credits teachers Gary Stuchlik, Bruce Rhodes, and Topher Rome for pushing her to know what she wanted to do after graduation.

She plans to attend the University of Missouri at Kansas City to study biology in a pre-physician’s assistant academic program.

Amy is a class officer and a member of Future Career Community Leaders of America, National Honor Society, Key Club, Marion Swim and Dive, scholars’ bowl, and Girl Scouts.

Mickelly has enjoyed ag classes and FFA under Mark Meyer. She plans to attend Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, and focus on bio-medical and health sciences. She plans to major in pre-physical therapy.

Mickelly plays softball, serves on the student council, and is a member of Key Club, Girl Scouts, and National Honor Society.

Jayden comes from a line of educators. Her mother is a teacher. Her grandmother also was a teacher.

“She’s super smart and helped me in a lot of areas,” Jayden said.

Sports have played a large role in her life. She played softball, volleyball, and basketball all four years of high school.

“I wanted to do my best,” she said. “I wanted to be right.”

Jayden plans to study radiology at Fort Hays State University.

These seniors and their classmates will receive high school diplomas at 4 p.m. Saturday at Marion Sports and Aquatic Center.
