3 new bands to take stage

This year’s Bluegrass at the Lake will feature three new bands Friday and Saturday.

The Sassanachs, a Hesston-based Irish and folk rock band, will launch the festival at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Jenna and Martin, from Kansas City, will take the stage at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Red dirt bluegrass band Mountain Deer Revival of Wichita will perform at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Returning bands are Fast Food Junkies of Wichita, Grody Riggins of Winfield, 80 Proof Engine of Newton, and Prospect, of Wichita.

Gates to the festival will open at 5 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.

Festival-goers are being urged to bring their own blankets and chairs. Camping is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“We do allow pup-ups,” lake superintendent Isaac Hett said.

Food trucks, vendors, a corn hole tournament, a silent auction, Bluegrass at the Lake merchandise, and a 50/50 raffle will be available.

Proceeds from the corn hole tournament, silent auction, Festival t-shirts and koozies, and 50/50 raffle support the bluegrass festival.

On-site transportation will be available from Festi-Cab. Cost is by donation.
