L.L. Hadsell, treasurer of the board of directors of Hospital District No. 1, signs a check for final payment of the mortgage note on St. Luke Hospital. The check, for $11,779, was one of nine similar payments made since April 3, 1968. The district now owns the hospital in full.
Due to deep snow in some places in town, it has been impossible to read all water meters during the past several weeks, according to those in the office of the city clerk. Therefore estimate reading have been made for meters that are inaccessible.
While you are shopping downtown and looking for a place to warm up for a few moments, stop at the Sears store and view artwork by nine Marion High School students. The display contains drawings by William Kroupa, Doug Heerey, John Slifer, Theresa Kroupa, Jeff Griffith, Miriam Priest, Doug McElhiney, Becky Vinduska, and Kelly Bartlett.

Janet Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hett and Julie Grentz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Grentz, are pictured as they work on an art project in Pauline Edmunds’ sixth grade classroom. The paper sculptures are of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, two presidents whose February birthdays are celebrated simultaneously in the schools.
