Dennis Klassen and Blaine Briggs remain on the “critical” list at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, the result of severe burns and other injuries suffered in an airplane crash at Hillsboro June 20 that claimed the life of Paul Rundstrom.

Arts and crafts will be on display and for sale July 22 in Marion when the Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a July Jamboree. Tables will be set up on the sidewalk near the main downtown intersection.

Bob Brookens, a native of Westmoreland, and a recent law graduate, has decided to establish his law practice in Marion. He expects to begin practice July 31. His office will be where Judge Westerhaus has been located, at 500 E. Main.

Mary Ann Wiens, who has shaped the lives of many Marion residents through careful instruction at Mary Ann’s Play School, is the subject of this week’s “Personality Profile.”

Like a page opening on the past, a contingent of riders including three cavalrymen, a mountain man, a scout and two pioneer women rode Arabian horses along a county road near its junction with the Santa Fe Trail southwest of Tampa. The trail riders hope to save the vanishing Oregon and Santa Fe Trails, an important part of the American heritage.

The 1978 Marion County wheat crop promises to be one of the best in the past three or four years in both yield and quality according to Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service director Ed Stenzel.
