Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday at Marion Municipal Auditorium, Ted Haefner, auctioneer, will offer a wide assortment of merchandise for bids at the second annual Christmas Bucks auction. The atmosphere will be full of fun and friendly competition as bids mount and items disappear from the stage.

This week’s subject of special feature writer Ruth Meyer’s “Personality Profile” series is Bob Brookens, who opened the doors of his office July 31, 1978, in the former law offices of Judge E.G. “Pat” Westerhaus.

Carrying their fight for parity to Topeka, about 40 farm tractors were driven past afternoon shoppers on Main Street last Thursday. Highway Patrol troopers escorted the tractorcade though town. Some of the tractors will join the tractorcade bound for Washington, D.C., in January when farmers will plead their case before Congress.

The Marion High School music room took on a festive madrigal dinner atmosphere Saturday night during the Swing Singer candlelight Christmas performance directed by Jeff Brewer.
