Dr. Morton Diament, an American citizen who has been practicing medicine in Scotland for the past several years, and his wife, DeLille, have moved to Marion and will be welcomed May 6 as a new physician at St. Luke Hospital.

This week’s Personality Profile features the Rev. Joseph Slomski, parish priest at St. Patrick’s Church in Florence.

A feature article by news editor Mike Heckman tells how Wes Just, remembering his childhood without a bicycle, has made many Marion youths happy by repairing and sometimes selling, a repaired cycle. The Justs moved to Marion in 1956 after he suffered a heart attack and had to quit farming. He spent 21 years as custodian in Marion schools and now, after retiring, his hobby is repairing and selling bicycles.

A swarm of motorcycles buzzed into Marion Sunday morning. They were the Wichita Sunday Riders out for a refreshing tour of the countryside. The 40 machines with 55 riders came to Marion to enjoy breakfast at the Owl Car Café, and then went back to Wichita taking the scenic route over K-150 to Strong City and through the Flint Hills by way of Matfield Green and Cassoday.
