The biggest snowstorm of the season struck Thursday morning unloading over a foot of the white stuff on Marion County and strangling transportation for nearly two days.

Frances White of Gilham’s Gardens is the subject of this week’s Personality Profile. She and her husband Steve are pictured as they check blooms on an azalea plant in preparation for Valentine’s Day.

Mrs. Blair (Nancy) Tharp, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Earl Wood of Marion, has been accepted into the spring nursing class at Butler County Community College, El Dorado.

May 31 is the date Marissa Kay Kukuk and her fiancé Gail Lee Makovec have selected for their wedding date. Nuptial vows will be read at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry, Oklahoma.

Polly Ferrell has been selected by the Marion-Florence Chapter of National Education Association as USD 408’s nominee for the 1980 Master Teacher Award.

Other teachers considered for nomination were Rex Wilson, Steve Hart, Susan Reid, Steve Janzen, and Jeff Brewer.
