Braving a chilly wind and 38 degree temperatures, about 50 interested persons attended groundbreaking ceremonies Monday afternoon for the new medical office building adjacent to St. Luke Hospital.

Jackie S. Robinson, CSR, of Wichita has been appointed the official court reporter for Judge Nicholas Klein in the Eighth Division of Sedgwick County District Court. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Robinson Sr., Florence, and a 1976 graduate of Marion High School.

Over 200 4-H members and their families attended Saturday night’s Marion County 4-H Achievement Banquet at St. Mark’s Activity Center. The event is held every year and is sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce and Scully Estates.

Florence State Bank will celebrate its 75th anniversary with open houses from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 5. The bank was founded in 1905 and has been serving the Florence Community ever since.

Sharon Anderson, daughter of Stanley and Evelyn Anderson of Marion, studied microbiology and chemistry as a University of Kansas undergraduate and now is deep into another discipline: law. In the past two years, Anderson has sought a variety of legal experiences that have left her with the desire to practice preventive law after she graduates in May.
