World Impact, a Los Angeles-based Christian youth organization, has opened a youth vocational center in southeastern Marion County. The 560-acre ranch will be used as a vocational and spiritual training center for teen-agers.

Dr. Jeff Martin, family practice physician has established his practice at the new St. Luke Medical Clinic and is pictured as he is welcomed to the community by Dr. E.K. Schroeder and Dorothy Varenhorst on behalf of the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

Also pictured is Dr. David Jensen who has established his dentistry practice in the new clinic building. He was presented his “first dollar“ plaque by Chamber members Dr. Schroeder and Bob Brooks.

Since late last year, Terry Harmon, 37, an assistant state archivist with the Kansas Historical Society has visited the attic of the county courthouse once a month cataloging the collections there, dating back to the 1880s.

The 23-piece band is rehearsing for a Saturday concert in Central Park sponsored by the Marion Community Arts Council.

Teresa Buchanan of Manhattan couldn’t resist entering a 7¼-pound zucchini in the Marion County Produce Derby. It thrived in the garden she and her husband are tending this summer, their first such attempt. Teresa is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Costello.
