County engineer Bernard Reams resigned Monday after a lengthy executive session called by Marion County Commission. Reams has accepted a position as design engineer with Unit Rig Co. of Tulsa, a firm that designs and builds heavy equipment.

The subject of this week’s “Personality Profile” is Lynn Christensen, owner of Lynn’s Truck and Tractor, an ordinary sounding name for one of the biggest farm machinery business organizations in the Midwest.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Suderman were hosts for a dinner honoring special guest Alvaro Guimaraes of Lisbon, Portugal, at their spacious farm home southwest of Marion. Guimaraes, a miller, is touring Kansas studying wheat farming and its marketing business.

Robert Collins of Wichita, trustee of the fund established by the wills of the late Anna and Nellie Ryan of Florence, has presented $10,000 checks to the Flint Hills Girl Scout Council and to Tabor College at Hillsboro. The Ryan sisters directed that their estates be used for charitable, religious, and educational purposes.

Marilee McGinness, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGinness of Aulne and a graduate of Marion High School, will be a member of the first class of the Oral Roberts University School of Medicine.

Tony Winter, fifth grader and son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Winter, is pictured on his bicycle as he enjoys perfect spring days of the past week.
