St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church was filled to near capacity Sunday for a celebration marking 25 years of service to the parish by Monsignor Arthur J. Tonne.

Loyd Savage and sons Rex and Ron went out to feed calves Saturday night. Before they were done, they had helped guide a pilot of a light airplane and his three passengers — lost in low-hanging clouds — to a safe landing at a Newton airport.

Five Marion Warriors have been named to the Cottonwood Valley League first-string football team. Players include halfback Casey Case, end Darin Helmer, tackle Jerry Hett, linebacker Jeff Richmond, and defensive back Darrell Waner.
