Marion will be the starting and ending point for a Pride motor coach tour April 7 and 8. Stops at seven additional towns in southeastern Kansas will be made before returning to Marion. The tour is being sponsored by Kansas Department of Economic Development and Kansas State University Extension.

Art Jantz has sold his 50% interest in Quality Food Market to Leland and Kay Heidebrecht. Jantz will continue to manage the store’s meat department.

An article by feature writer Ruth Meyer tells of Laura Bredemeier’s adventures in many beautiful and interesting places throughout the world. Bredemeier is a lieutenant colonel in the Army Nurse Corps and daughter of Herbert and Clara Bredemeier of Marion.

Edward Hett, a second-year medical student at the University of Kansas, has received the James J. Ryan scholarship for the spring semester of 1979.

The scholarship was established with the KU Endowment Association in 1968 by the late James J. Ryan of Florence to encourage Marion County medical students to return to the county to practice medicine.

Hett’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hett of rural Peabody.

Ten Rio Grande hens and six Rio Grande gobblers were released recently on tributaries of the Cottonwood River in Marion and Chase Counties, according to Steve Capel of the Kansas Fish and Game Commission.
