A public “Open House” is being planned for May 6 at the new Rounds and Stewart Natural Gasoline processing plant northwest of Marion. Everyone interested in seeing this intricate new processing plant that extracts liquid petroleum products from millions of cubic feet of natural gas daily is invited to attend.

Winner of the 1962 Marion County Spelling Bee this year, for the fourth consecutive year, was Barbara Musgrave of Marion Elementary School. Roger Harms of Lehigh was runner-up, Dorothy Bartel of Hillsboro, third, Marilyn Bentz of Bartholdi School, fourth, and Stephanie Ratzlaff of Goessel, fifth.

Members of the Marion FFA chapter planted more than 300 red cedar trees along the north side of the Marion Elementary School playgrounds this week. Boys pictured as they planted the trees were Steve Stayton, Steve Krispense, Vic Winter, Paul Bamberger, Max Miller, Clifford Hett, Bill Goentzel, and Wayne Kreutziger.

James F. Meisner, Marion County Engineer, has been named president of the Marion board of education to fill the unexpired term of Dr. E.K. Schroeder.

Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Boese and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Nickel hosted a birthday party Thursday evening at the E.U.B. church basement in honor of Glen Nickel and Larry Boese. Those present were Larry and Gary Maltbie, Jon Schimpf, John Hoover, Laurence Webster, Lowell Ensey, Bob Klose, Max Ewert, Bill and Ruby Winkley, Glenda Harlan, Becky Berry, and Barbara Helmer.
