The 1962 wheat harvest in Marion County is largely over. The quality of wheat is good to extra good and the yields better than average. Because of the unusually high cash market price, most of the wheat has been sold for cash, with little so far taking a government loan.
Five local Girl Scouts plan to attend Camp Daisy Hineman at Topeka from July 15 to 27. Those registered include Jan Van Buren, Susan Marler, Tammy Case, Susan Vogel, and Cathy Costello.
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Nice of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Norma, to Gerald Kline, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kline of Marion. The wedding date has not been set.
Miss Lenore Wheeler left Wednesday morning for Estes Park, Colo., where she will spend the summer on the staff at the Y.M.C.A. camp. She will be the senior hostess of Friendship Lodge and involved in a number of camp programs.
Emmanuel Baptist Church Bible School, with an enrollment of 46 children, came to a close with a program Sunday evening. Teachers and helpers were Louise Horton, Mrs. Bob Fillipp, Donna Helmer, Mrs. John Helmer, Mrs. Clayton Hamm, Judy Michelson, Mrs. George Hathaway, Mrs. Kirstein, and Rev. Kirstein.
The Kansas State Society of Long Beach, Calif., will have its annual summer picnic July 8 at Bixby Park in Long Beach. There will be a register for all 105 counties and for colleges.
