Five gas wells recently completed in the Antelope field have added over 13 million cubic feet of natural gas daily to the growing potential of this area.

Marium Webster, owner of Webster Auto Service, has announced he has purchased the building and lot just east of his garage on Main Street. He presently is having the entire building remodeled and will expand his business into it.

Eileen Pavey of Marion has been awarded a scholarship for the current school year at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. The award is provided jointly by the Kansas State Federation of Labor and Kansas State Teacher College.

Open house was held at the Carl Bass home Sept. 16 in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Dick Schwartz spent the first part of the week in Salina with Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Pankratz.

Marion Warriors highly pleased their supporters Friday night by taking the season’s opener against their opening game rival of long-standing, Moundridge, by 19-6.

Gen. Lewis B. Hersey, head of the selective service system, and noted Mennonite evangelist George Brunk will speak at a meeting Saturday night in Hillsboro. They will present their views on universal military training from both the church and state standpoint.
