Marion County will join more than 90 other counties in the state next week in a massive campaign to “Stop Polio” completely. A series of clinics has been set up over the county where Type II of the Sabin Oral vaccine will be administered to all who will participate—young and old.

The city this week sealed all the cracks and did repair work on the tennis courts in the park. The courts will be flooded and when the weather gets cold they will be an ideal ice skating rink for the youth of the community.

Two new ministers arrived in Marion this week to take up their charges here. The Rev. and Mrs. William Staub moved this week from Sylvan Grove into the Presbyterian manse on North Cedar Street. Rev. and Mrs. Winston Worden and infant son come from Augusta. He has been assistant pastor at the Christian Church there.

Jerry Dieter of Lawrence and Larry Dieter of San Francisco returned to their respective areas last week after spending the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dieter.

The women’s division of the “Over 50 Club” met Tuesday in the clubroom for a potluck dinner and an afternoon of sewing carpet rags for the Auxiliary. A group of the women will attend KAKE-TV Party Line at Wichita on Friday.

Al & Dan’s Quality Market has just received a special shipment of pure ground beef, 2 pounds at 89 cents, and U.S. Choice beef roasts, 49 cents per pound.
