A serious fire of undetermined origin threatened the entire building, which houses the Gamble store in Marion, Thursday night.

A woman shoplifter, classed as a “professional” apparently was at work in Marion and Hillsboro on Monday of the week. She hit Jackson’s store here for an estimated $100 worth of shirts and sweaters, and about a half-hour later lifted merchandise from Groening’s in Hillsboro.

Kathy Winter was pleasantly surprised Friday evening when the following girls surprised her for her birthday: Tammy Case, Cathleen Costello, Maurita Deines, Susan Hanson, Beverly Elling, Joyce Ford, Beverly Hoch, Janice Jantz, Susan Marler, Linda Oldham, Nancy Olsen, Lucille Spencer, Jan Van Buren and Debbie Finke.
