For the past year or more, a group of eight Marion women have been quietly going about the monumental task of completely renovating, renewing, and modernizing books, shelves, in fact the entire atmosphere of the Marion Public Library—an outstanding example of valuable public service. These eight women are Marie Morse, Audrey Carpenter, Dorothy Magee, Phyllis Melton, Mary Longhofer, Billie Slusser, Dora Phillips, and Ruth Caselman.
Phyllis Turk of Marion missed $100 in this week’s Cash Day drawing. Al Bosh, Marion, missed $30; Norma Riggs, Marion, missed $10; Shirley Wortham, Peabody, missed $10; and Mrs. Emil Finke, Florence missed $10.
The following girls helped Linda Bernhardt celebrate her birthday Tuesday: Luann Redfearn, Marsha and Carol Steinel, and Cindy and Janet Druse. They were her guests of supper.
Mrs. Jack P. Hoffman has been especially honored by several parties and gatherings since her retirement at the end of the year after 26 years of service with the Marion County Department of Social Welfare.
Charles W. Meisinger, instructor and documents officer in the electronics repair branch at Sandia Base, N.M., has been promoted to the navy rank of Lieutenant, junior grade. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Menno Meisinger of Marion.
