Three Marion High School students were honored this year for scholarship and general excellence during their high school careers. Max Jackson Jr. is valedictorian of the Class of 1964. Ruby Winkley is salutatorian, and Donna Hanschu shares, with Max, the coveted Balfour Award for all-around excellence in all phases of school activities and general citizenship.
Mrs. Edson (Naomi) Childs of the Marion County Selective Service office was cited last week during the Selective Service Clerk’s Conference for the State of Kansas, as “Clerk of the Year” in the state.
The birth of 11 babies is reported in this week’s “Look Who’s Here” column. The births include those of Rhonda Lynn Knox, Richard Alan Siebert, Michelle Ann Weiser, Tammy Kay Solomon, Mary Beth Vinduska, a son (not named) of Mr. and Mrs. James Wyatt, Troy Wayne Schmidt, Laura Lynn Gilbert, Kristine Marie Waner, Joni Jean Stage, and Marcell Ann Meirowsky.
Mr. and Mrs. Milford Nickel of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Diane, to Larry Boese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Boese, also of Marion. No wedding date has been set.
All women interested in playing softball are invited to meet at 430 South Freeborn Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.
