Another step in the overall program of maintenance and improvement in the county courthouse was completed this week when the pictures of former county officials and other people of importance in the early days of Marion County were removed from their frames and placed in plastic envelopes, where they will be better protected against dust and humidity. They will remain on display on the first floor of the courthouse in a large album obtained for this purpose.
Father Francis Maguire celebrated the 50th Jubilee Anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood June 4 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Tampa.
A crew of men and a large, heavy-duty bulldozer moved into the Marion Reservoir area this week and went to work with the initial clearing work in preparation for the first phase construction of the flood control and water conservation dam on the Cottonwood River.
The Aulne school district will not hold school this coming year. It is reported that about 11 students will come to Marion and four will go to Hillsboro next year.
Miss Margie Gardner of Louisburg, bride-elect of Mick Summervill, was honored with a bridal shower June 6 in the parlors of the First Christian Church, Marion.
