Talented 19-year-old Margene Savage of Florence — Miss Marion County, and now Miss Kansas of 1965, is pictured on the front page following her final performance Saturday night at the Miss Kansas Scholarship Pageant in Pratt. Margene will represent the state of Kansas in the Miss America Pageant at Atlantic City in early September.

Marion Rexall Pharmacy is busy this week moving into brand new quarters, just a half-block west of their present location. The move will not be entirely complete until the end of next week, says W.G. “Jerry” Higgins, owner.

A group of Marion Girl Scouts hiked from Marion to Hillsboro Saturday via country roads and report a fine time. The group included Cathy Costello, Susan Hansen, Tammy Case, Beverly Hoch, Jan Herrick, Kathy Winter, Susan Marler and Janice Jantz. One of the parents drove to Hillsboro in the afternoon to bring the girls home.

The fine new floating “fishing dock” at the Marion County Lake will officially open for operation this Saturday. The dock was built by Ben Schlagel of Wichita and is leased to the county.

Diane Nickel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Nickel of Marion, has been awarded a four-year $1,000 fine arts scholarship to Southwestern College at Winfield.
