John Waner, Marion County Park and Lake superintendent, has submitted his resignation effective August 26. Waner has accepted a position as patrolman on the campus at the University of Kansas.

Wedding write-ups in this issue were those of Barbara Base and Alvin Kroupa on Aug. 1. Beverly Pankratz and Bruce Sloan, Aug. 8; Lucinda Hauser and Duane Reed, Aug. 8; and Joyce Wall and Delton Richmond, Aug. 1.

The Jackson Midget ball club, managed by Max Jackson Sr., George and Max, Jr. was winner in the finals of their league tournament. Team members are Dick Carr, Steven Behrendt, Roger Jackson, Gary Melcher, Mike Bredemeier, Leslie Suderman, and Lloyd Behrendt.

Three teen-age boys, inmates at the Marion County Jail, overpowered their jailer Monday afternoon and broke out to limited freedom for a few short hours before being returned to their cells. The three were arraigned again Wednesday, this time on a jail breaking charge.

The Case and Son team was winner in the PeeWee tourney. Members of that team were Dennis Helmer, Ricky Schwendiman, Randy Perkins, Tony Turner, Bill Newlin, David Carr, Jay Schwendiman, Mike Klose, Jim Richmond, Doug Helmer, and Roger Hannaford.
