Another fine Old Settlers’ Day Reunion is history. The event this year fully lived up to its expectations and a large crowd of visitors and residents thoroughly enjoyed all of the day’s events.

A flag tournament was held Sunday at Marion Country Club. Bob Hoover was medalist for 18 holes. John Brose won the first flight, followed by Bob Hoover and Harlow Warneke. Bill Finke won the second flight, followed by Edward Good and Monty Avery.

Georgia Kline was guest of honor at a party at the Herb Kline home Monday afternoon in celebration her third birthday. Little guests were Tena Maggard, Kelly and Kerri Post, Rita Kay Warkentin, Twyla Hart, and Roxann and Doreen Helmer. Also present were the children’s mothers, Mrs. Charles Maggard, Mrs. Ronald Post, Mrs. Melvin Warkentin, and Mrs. Albert Hart.

Dennis Hett, Marion High School senior, has received a letter of commendation in honor of his high performance in the National Merit Scholarship qualifying test given last spring. Students honored are in the upper two percent of their high school classes.

Mrs. Roger W. Hannaford has received an interesting letter from former Marion High School coach Dale Miller and wife. They are now with the Navy, teaching in Sicily.
