Country music, more popular now than ever, will be a featured part of Old Settlers’ Day activities this year when the national “Fiddler, Pickers, and Singers Association” puts on a program in Marion’s beautiful Central Park.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hollar celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at a dinner at the Elgin Hotel hosted by their five sons and one daughter. Approximately 150 guests attended the open house that followed.

This year’s winner in the annual 4-H Style Revue at Marion County Fair in the girls’ division was Carmen Hayen of Marion, grand champion. Kris Reid of Florence was the reserve champion. Grand champion winner of the best-dressed boy division was Leslie Lalouette, Florence. Runner-up was Ronald Duerksen, Lehigh.

The wedding of Donna June Jost and Robert L. Ames was solemnized August 20 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Births reported at St. Luke Hospital this week were those of Amy Deanne Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hett of Peabody, born August 20; Thomas Neil Kaufman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dalmer Kaufman of Durham, August 21; Cynthia Lyn Stevens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewy Stevens of Florence, August 22; and Steven Douglas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron D. Craig of Lincolnville, August 23.
