Patrons of Marion Unified School District No. 408 will vote a special question ballot at the primary election Aug. 2. They will decide whether the district shall construct a new stadium and other improvements at the athletic field.
Public hearings will be held at Hillsboro and Marion on August 11 and 12 to consider the economic effects of the communities of rebuilding US-56 highway to modern two lane standards.
Weddings reported in this issue are those of Barbara Bolte and Joe Tajchman, who were married July 9 in Pilsen and Virginia Goentzel and Glenn Jost, married July 17 in Hillsboro.
Mike Wood, one of Marion’s young stellar golfers, set what at least is a modern-day course record at Marion County Club Tuesday evening when he carded a nine-hole 29, six strokes under par. Mike will be a senior at Marion High School this fall.
Bob Boese, Marion, missed $200 Wednesday afternoon at the Marion Cash Days drawing. John Just, Marion, received $15; Marie Ortery, Marion, missed $20; Jean Thompson, Cedar Point, missed $5; and Mrs. Frank Krotz, Durham, missed $40.
Sophomores Max Guy Jackson of Marion and Max L. Kottwitz of Peabody have earned places on the spring honor roll of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Kansas.
