Two men were taken into custody by the FBI this week in Shreveport, Louisiana. In their possession were several sheets of the money orders stolen October 23 from the Goessel Post office.

Pictured on the front page is the Marion Junior High School “Braves” history-making football team of 1966, the first such team to have an unbeaten record in at least 20 years.

Ground was cleared this week, and initial survey work laid out with stakes driven for the start of construction on the new nursing home in Marion. The modern new 50-bed skilled nursing home will be operated by Mrs. Minnie Spain, who now operates Spain Guest Home in Oswego.

Jean Carlson was crowned football homecoming queen at Centre October 28. Her attendants were Karen Anderson, Kathy Bernhardt, and Pamela Hensley. Escorts were Keith Haefner, DeWayne Payton, Lloyd Tajchman, and Burdette Peterson.

Cub Scouts of Den IV observed Halloween at the carriage house on the Ed Colburn property. Scouts and their sisters attending were Brook and Martha Beaston, Greg and Cindy Carlson, Mike and Sherrie Classen, David, Lynn, and Carol Colburn, Dart, Dana, and Debbie Henry, Jim and Jeanne Koslowsky, and Tim and Julie Zerger.

A special meeting of Marion USD 408 school board was held Monday to go over final plans for the new stadium to be constructed at Marion Athletic Field.
