Marion County Undersheriff Dean Ollenburger has accepted a new position with the Rock Island Railroad and will be moving to Chicago May 1. Former sheriff Earl Pankratz has agreed to take over the undersheriff position.

The Kansas division office for Hallett Construction Company is being moved his week from Salina to Marion, according to word from Kenneth J. McGurren, manager. This is the company that specialized in production of limestone aggregate, agricultural lime, and other similar products. They bought out that part of Riddle Quarries, Inc., in January 1966.

Sharon Kroupa, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa, Marion, and a seventh grade student at Pilsen Grade School, is the champion speller of Marion County this year.

All reserved seats for the Thursday and Friday night showings of the PTA annual fund show have been sold out. Performers in the “Road Show” include Miles and Paula Henry, Eleanor Zerger, Saundra Dreier, Bill Finke, Keith Conyers, Earl Wood, Gerry Harris, Janice Case, Dick Bredemeier, and Naomi Childs.

Little Miss Greta Helmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Helmer, observed her fifth birthday April 14 and was guest of honor at a party at her parents’ home. Others present were Carla Jost, Janice Wiens, Mary Weinmann, Kelly McKinney, and Greta’ sister, Gina Helmer.
