The National Editorial Foundation at Washington, D.C., this week designated Marion County Record as one of 255 National Blue Ribbon Newspapers.

An estimated 600 people attended an open house Sunday afternoon at Autumn Manor, Florence’s new 60-bed nursing home. The unit’s advisory board members are Harold Chapman, Richard Dale, Mrs. Harold Huntley, Lester Owens, John Slifer, Joseph Slomski, D.C. Stevens, and Pauline Trubshaw.

Winners, in Marion Friday night of big bushel baskets loaded with groceries were Mrs. Ron Kelsey of Marion, Louise Eaton of the Marion County Lake, and David Helmer of rural Marion.

Ralph Mathews received an appropriate certificate and a money tree Friday from Mayor Jack Regnier in recognition of 31 years of faithful service to the City of Marion.

Future brides honored with bridal showers in this issue are Sandra Anderson, bride-elect of Roger Jackson; Kathy Kelsey, future bride of Mark Rathert; and Susie Klenda, soon to be married to Joe Ragole.

Winners of door prizes given at Conyers Flowers open house Sunday were Lois Johnson, Marion, first; Nellie Wiens, Hillsboro, second; Eva Wiggins, Delevan, third; and Paulette Zook of Florence, Carla Behrendt of Newton, Catherine A. Hein of Emporia, and Katherine Swan of Hillsboro, fourth through seventh place.
