The City of Marion this week adopted a stricter parking ordinance for certain areas in both the hill and valley sections of town.
The ordinance prohibits parking on at least one side of certain highly traveled streets—including Elm, Locust, N. Lincoln, N. Cedar, S. Roosevelt, S. Freeborn, S. 3rd, and Hudson.
The Marion High School basketball squad completed the ’75-’76 season, the first since 1964 in which they have come up with more victories than losses. Senior Randy Robertson, with a total of 321 points, was the leading scorer. Brad Heerey was right on his heels with 310 points.
Local Girl Scouts joined with others all over the world to ignite a “flame of freedom” for the bicentennial year at a ceremony Friday afternoon at the American Legion hall. Entertainment at a monthly meeting of Business and Professional Women’s Club was provided by Jim McPheeters and four members of the MHS forensics squad. Students participating were Brook Beaston, Sandy Bridges, Doug Francis, and Rhonda Richmond.
