Joint Rural High School No. 11, Marion County’s newest high school, will start classes Sept. 8. The new building, which will serve students from the former schools of Lincolnville, Lost Springs, Ramona and Burdick, is located two miles north of Lincolnville.
Selected as queen of the Marion County Fair Friday night was Mary Lou Conyers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Conyers of Marion. She was crowned by Margie Bernhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bernhardt, who was the 1957 Fair Queen.
Something new in tractor field demonstrations will be held in Marion during the coming week when two tractor agencies have scheduled field demonstrations to take place at night
“under the stars.”
Carolyn Merrill, who has been working this summer at Estes Park, Colo., arrived home Tuesday and will leave the latter part of the week for Lawrence where she will enter her senior year at KU.
One family with six birthdays in one month is quite unusual. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hagans of Manhattan have birthdays this month, their son, Robert Hagans of Kansas City, and their daughter Mrs. Alex Case Jr., have the same birthday in September, and the birthdays of Alex Case Jr. and Deborra Case also occur this month. All these birthdays were celebrated Sunday at the Alex Case Jr. home.
