Lanell Marie, the 13th child of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tajchman, is the lucky “First Baby of 1963” in Marion. She was born Jan. 2 at St. Luke Hospital. She and her parents will be the recipients of the may fie first baby gifts offered each year by Marion merchants. The young miss, who weighed 9 pounds 6 ounces at birth, has seven brothers and five sisters.

Epiphany Night will be observed at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, with the annual Christmas tree burning on the high school grounds between the high school and the gymnasium. The public is invited to attend.

The newly-elected president of Marion Chamber of Commerce for 1963 is Dick Bredemeier, Marion service station operator.

The coyote hunt at Youngtown drew a large crowd Tuesday in spite of the fog. Seven coyotes were caught.

Marriages announced in this issue include those of Sandra Kay Weinheimer and Bruce D. Hett, both of Marion, Dec. 22; Joyce Hiebert, Marion, and Robert Schimdt, Newton, Dec. 21; and Carlita Bass and John Price, both of Marion, Dec. 15.

James Moffitt of Tampa will be among the two contingents of volunteers departing for Nigeria on Jan. 3 to work as secondary school teachers. The volunteers will be assigned to secondary schools throughout Nigeria, using English as the language of instruction.
