Two basketball players from Marion County have been selected by the Wichita Eagle to their mythical all-state teams. Mike Schwemmer of the Marion Warriors was selected to the Eagle second team. Dick Myers, Peabody center, was selected to the first team.

The Dairy Queen will open in Marion this Friday, March 15, according to Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Schimpf, owners and operators. This marks the 11th season of operation of the Dairy Queen in Marion by the Schimpfs. They purchased the business from Ezra Bernhardt.

Den 3, Marion Cub Scouts, visited the Marion County Record on Wednesday of this week and took a tour of the printing plant. The following boys were present: Mike Schwendiman, Brad Case, Mark Rathert, Kendall Helmer, Steven Widler, Dennis Helmer, Doug Marler, and Ricky Schwendiman.

Two persons were honored by the Marion Safety Commission this week for their safe driving practices during the month of February. They are Homer Stiller for the adult award and JoAnn Stroda for the teen-ager. Each will receive a certificate and gasoline for their car.

The 44th birthday of the American Legion will be celebrated Saturday with a banquet and dance in the clubrooms of James William Miesse Post No.22. There will be a social hour at 6 p.m. A banquet at 7 p.m. will be followed by a dance to the music of Al Jennings.
