Jacob Meier, owner of the Meier Shoe Clinic, has announced plans for a 30th anniversary celebration at his shoe store. Mr. Meier handles Red Wing, City Club, Dr. Scholl’s, and other popular brands of shoes. He also has his own shoe repair facilities.

Four Junior students at Marion High School have been chosen to attend the American Legion sponsored Girls’ and Boys’ States on the University of Kansas campus in June. The students are Judy Broadstreet, Donna Hanschu, Max Jackson, and Doug Bass.

Another new business opened in Marion recently when Mrs. Virgil Weber started Anita’s Beauty Salon. The beauty shop is located in a remodeled part of the Weber home at 115 S. Freeborn.

Jim Bredemeier was guest of honor Tuesday afternoon at a party at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bredemeier, honoring his sixth birthday. Guests were the following neighborhood boys: Allan Richmond, Scott, Jerry, and Terry Conyers, Greg Carlson, Ricky Richmond, and Jim’s brothers, Don and Mike.

The new Welfare Department offices on the S. Third Street side of Courthouse Square will be open for public inspection this Sunday, March 31.
