The five-digit ZIP code number for Marion is 66861, Postmaster Paul Shahan announced today. “Everyone will use this ZIP code on all their correspondence to speed mail deliveries and reduce the chance of misspent mail,” the postmaster said.

Six units of Girl Scouts from Marion County are attending “Windy Hollow Day Camp” this week. The camp is located at the southeast edge of Marion, along Spring Creek, on land owned by Mr. and Mrs. Norman Plenert, Dean Batt, and Edward Costello.

One of the four contestants entered in the annual Marion County Dairy Princess contest this year is Anita Schlehuber of Marion. She is sponsored by the Marion Kiwanis Club.

Mrs. Clayton Hamm was hostess at a birthday party Wednesday afternoon honoring the ninth birthday of her daughter Shirley Ann. Guests were Jeannie Kirstein, Donna Douglas, Joanne Popp, Cherri Ottensmeier, Linda Wray, Sherrie Weddel, Donna Anderson, Diane Weber, Jean Holt, Jane Lentz, Sherrie Howell, and Debbie Bell.

The Cub Scout “Fishing Derby” was held Saturday afternoon at the Marion County Lake. The four prizewinners were: first place, Doug Keazer with a 12½-inch bass; second place, James Druse with a 7½-inch crappie; third place, Mark Rathert with 50 assorted fish; and fourth place, Billy Finke, a 2½-inch perch.
