At least 400 farmers from a wide area and Marion businessmen gathered at Marion City Building last Thursday evening for the annual Farm-City banquet sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce and the Marion Kiwanis Club.

Marion’s football star at the University of Kansas, Ron Oelschlager, was further honored this week with selection to a berth on the 1963 Big Eight All- Academic Eleven. Ron is the only repeater from last year’s group.

Another scenic new residential subdivision to the city of Marion was accepted and officially filed with the register of deeds this week. It is the “Tanglewood Addition.” Owners of the new addition are Mr. and Mrs. Dean C. Batt and Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Costello.

Friday the 13th will be a lucky day in Marion, at least for 15 families. Fifteen nice big, live turkeys are to be given away free on Marion’s Main Street. Kids are reminded to register in any Marion store for the big prize to be given away Dec. 20 — a beautiful pony complete with saddle and bride.

A new congregation in Marion, the Church of Christ, completed purchase this week of the former Evangelical United Brethren Church building at the corner of Santa Fe and N. Fifth streets.
