Margene Savage, talented, dark-haired 19-year-old beauty from Florence was crowned “Miss Kansas of 1965” Saturday night at the annual competition in Pratt.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Savage of Florence, she will represent Kansas at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in early September.

Marion Rexall Pharmacy is busy this week moving into brand-new quarters a half block west of their present location. The move will not be entirely complete until the end of next week, proprietor W.G. “Jerry” Higgins estimates.

The fine new floating “fishing dock” at the Marion County Lake has been completed and will be officially opened for operation this Saturday, says Superintendent John Waner. The dock was built by Ben Schlagel of Wichita and is leased to the county.

A group of Marion Girl Scouts hiked from Marion to Hillsboro Saturday via country roads. The group included Cathy Costello, Susan Hansen, Tammy Case, Beverly Hoch, Jan Herrick, Kathy Winter, Susan Marler, and Janice Jantz.
