The annual farm-city stag banquet and program will be Nov. 5 at the Marion City Building under the sponsorship of the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

Ron Oelschlager of Marion, stellar fullback and outstanding student at the University of Kansas, is one of three college football players of the Midwest area to be nominated as a NCAA candidate for the scholar-athlete awards presented annually by the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame.

The 1964 Homecoming Queen will be crowned during halftime of Friday’s football game with Centre. Candidates for the honor are Becky Berry, Connie Jost, and Neva Kelsey. Mary Konarik, 1963 Homecoming Queen, will take part in the ceremony.

Some 50 infants, children, and their mothers gathered at the city building Oct. 17 to enjoy the annual baby alumni party sponsored by St. Luke Hospital. The door prize was won by Gary Wayne Ehrlich.

Prize for the youngest boy went to Michael Layne Jantz whose birthday is Aug. 30, 1964. The youngest girl was Kristine Dawn Kelsey, born June 21, 1964.

Kevin Lamoine Kelsey, who lives in Newton, received a prize for having come the farthest.
