The Board of County Commissioners this week has given public notice that they will offer for sale at auction the property commonly known as “Cedar Rest,” former county old folks home. The property is located four miles west and three miles south of Marion. It consists of about 31 acres, the building and furniture along with fixtures.

The nation’s most popular polka band for the ninth consecutive year, “The Six Fat Dutchmen,” all ten of them, are coming to Pilsen. They will perform Nov. 12 at the Starlite Ballroom.

Girls of the MHS Future Homemakers of America staged a “Mock Homecoming” last week. King candidates were Myron Frans, George Jackson, Ron Kreutziger, and Francis Breech.

Halftime ceremonies were very impressive as candidates were escorted on to the field by Barbara Bailey, Linda Helmer, Donna Endres, Helen Jackson, Henrietta Klein, Linda Amick, Sherry Knoblock, and Connie Stage.

FHA president Linda McElwain crowned George Jackson as homecoming king.
