Three new city ordinances approved by the City Commission this week include Ordinance 801 that makes it unlawful to have an open bottle of beer or to drink beer on the streets of Marion. Ordinance 802 makes it illegal to transport an open bottle of liquor in Marion. Ordinance 803 provides for uniform traffic regulations up to the same standards as state statutes.

Prize winners at the annual American Legion Carnival on Veterans Day are Roy Stevenson, 30-cup percolator; Lois Raleigh, clock radio; Rose Zager, electric skillet; and John Brose, shotgun. Clint Ecker won the television set.

The 50th anniversary of Athena Study Club was celebrated Nov. 17 with four charter members, Mrs. A.L. Richardson, Mrs. Walter Siebert, Miss Sadie Keller, and Miss Viola Thompson, present.

The Elgin Restaurant will reopen for business Saturday under new ownership and with free coffee and donuts for all who drop in that morning to get acquainted. Frank Keating, operators of popular restaurants in Emporia, is the new owner.

Marion High School seniors will present “The Miracle Worker” at 8 p.m. Nov. 20 at Marion City Auditorium.
