Tucked snug in her crib at St. Luke Hospital, Arlene Rose Becker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Galen R. Becker of Burns, is Little Miss 1965. Born Jan. 2, she weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces, is the Beckers’ first child and the first baby born this year at St. Luke Hospital.
John E. Wheeler, 73, widely known and respected Marion attorney died Jan. 5 at St. Luke Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral Mass will be offered at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Florence.
Sister Mary Scholastica, R.N., anesthetist at St. Luke Hospital, was injured Sunday by a ricocheting slug from a rifle shot fired somewhere in the vicinity of the hospital.
Members of the 1952 graduating class of Marion High School held their fourth reunion Dec. 26 in the basement of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Following a banquet served by the Lutheran women, the group enjoyed a social hour and dance in the dining room of the Owl Car Café.
County officials to be sworn into office Monday noon include first-time county commissioners Ed Navrat and O.F. Herbert. Incumbents, re-affirming their oaths will be commissioner Herbert Hiebert, clerk Fred Allen, probate judge Henry Loveless, and attorney Dean Batt.
